Overview

The Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers (HITE) and the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT/CERTH) co-organize the ‘9th International Congress on Transportation Research’ (ICTR 2019), which will be held on October 24th -25th, 2019, in Athens, Greece. The spotlight theme of the 2019 Congress is: 'Transportation 4.0: The Smart Evolution'

The ICTR has been a major event in the field of transportation research for the past 17 years. Potential ICTR participants include the research and academic community, as well as the public and private sector involved in the development and implementation of innovative projects in the field of transport.

ICTR 2019 will host innovative research and development work in the field of transportation systems, operations and infrastructures, in Greece and abroad. The Congress objective is to showcase recent top-notch research activities in transportation, merge research findings and policy making tasks, facilitate the exchange of knowledge in the local and international level and draw conclusions and shape recommendations on the future of transportation.

The Hellenic Institute of Transport is part of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) which is a non-profit organization that directly reports to the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), of the Greek Ministry of Development and Infrastructures. H.I.T.'s main objective is the conduct and support of applied research activities in the field of transportation in Greece.

The Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers was founded in 1976 in Athens, Greece. It currently includes over 600 members, all of them holding a postgraduate degree in transportation and carrying a long experience in the subject matter. The Institute has acted as Advisor to various public authorities and public corporations and is widely considered as an expert counterpart for supporting decision making, given its impartiality and scientific approach to implementing and solving problems in the transport sector.
